Things change rapidly nowadays.
We hunger for the latest new thing.
But novelty itself is overrated.
Fast consumption just leads to short moments of happiness.
If we are looking for real satisfaction, and I mean optical, physical and perhaps psychological satisfaction we should design things which exist outside the forces of time and fashion, things which we can even enjoy in 5 or 10 years,
things with a long optical half-life,
things which do without the unnecessary,
things which sometimes break the rules,
things with a calm presence,
things with sensuality,
things with a permanent closeness to time,
things which do not evoke questions.
Of course these things have to be right and useful. But the decisive point is their ability to develop and maintain a relationship to their user. And maybe in some cases people are being touched by them emotionally.
